gondobackupI've been thinking about the setting of Gondolin. Here's a map from the Atlas of Middle Earth showing Gondolin built on a lake. What do I know about bodies of water in Middle Earth?
Watcher on the water, which leads to other pictures of the bestiary of middle earth, such as the oliphaunts/mumakil and other creatures that existed in their world and I was thinking.
What IS out there?
I think I'm going to go with the more supernatural, like wights and shit, and the more normal shit like mega-fauna from our world. However, on behalf of Snacky, no giant dragonflies. But I think sabre-toothed tigers would fit right in with shit like wargs. Plus those gigantic deer with antlers like chandeliers.
I think there'll be a lot of natural predators outside Gondolin, part of what keeps the humans more willing to stay safe and sound inside.
One thing I do want is no cats in Gondolin, until a certain Beruthiel-related ones show up. Hounds, however, are present.
